Board of Trustees Vote to Offer Parents Option to Return to In-Person Learning

Dear Oak Grove Community,

Last night, our Board of Trustees heard community and staff comment regarding opening schools for in-person instruction. The Board discussed the health and safety of our staff and students and recognized the toll this challenging year has had on the mental health and wellbeing of the students we serve.

After much debate and conversation, our School Board unanimously voted to open our schools and provide the option for students to remain in distance learning or return to in-person instruction in a phased-in hybrid model. Parents/guardians who prefer to keep their child(ren) in distance learning will have the option to do so. Those that prefer their child(ren) participate in in-person instruction will also have that option.

Phase-in opening school dates, no later than:

Grades TK, K, 1       April 26
Grades 2-3               May 3
Grades 4-6 and 8     May 10
Grade 7                    Distance Learning for the remainder of the school year

In-Person instruction will be in a Hybrid Model, consisting of small groups in-person two times per week and the other days off campus in distance learning. Please look for a Commitment Form via ParentSquare in the coming weeks from your school site where you will select the option for each child to either remain in distance learning or to select in-person instruction. After you submit your selection, you will receive further information from your school regarding your child's return to instruction.

We are so grateful to our staff, who have been working hard to ensure that our students have the very best school year amid the challenges we have faced with the pandemic. On behalf of Oak Grove staff and the Board of Trustees, I extend our sincere appreciation for the patience and support of Oak Grove families throughout this school year.
